Ten Things of Thankful – or 30 Reasons to Celebrate

Ten Things of Thankful – or 30 Reasons to Celebrate
Jumping right in, my First Thankful is that Amelia’s surgery went well – two pins were inserted in two metatarsal bones (actually third and fourth bones) – tomorrow we bring her to the doctor to follow-up hoping for some good news.

Second Thankful –she is a trooper and is handling the pain like a champ – Motrin is helping her, and  I am thankful  that she is not in agony, and that we don’t need to make the decision to give her the Percocet that was prescribed to her.

Third Thankful – Amelia’s girlfriends have reached out to her, to see how she is feeling.  – This concerned me, you know, out of sight out of mind.

Last week was a little crazy – last Monday was a long day at the hospital   – it was a day-op surgery – but getting her comfortable plus the worrying – we were all exhausted – Amelia said it the best on the way home – “Now that I am in the car with my family – I’m not nervous anymore.”

Oprah’s Soul Sunday started her season interviewing Paolo Coelho – discussing his phenomenal best seller “The Alchemist” ,have you read it.  It is one of my all-time favorite books – please read it if you have not- it is about a spiritual journey of a young boy finding his place in the universe; part two of the interview will be today and I will watch it later on tonight.

We marked thirteen years since the attacks on 9/11 – and each year I am reminded of my own participation during that day- I bow my head in sadness for all that perished on 9/11 – I mourn with the country.  Moreover, I pray for peace everywhere.

Moving on to the rest of the Thankfuls:

Fourth Thankful is the weekend – almost over I was able to clean, rest, get pampered (manicure and a pedicure) and celebrate.

Fifth Thankful –Our 30thWedding Anniversary:

Thirty- two years ago my life changed forever.  We met, dated, fell in love, and married.  We grew up together, and are now growing old together too; we walked through life holding on to each other- clinging or holding hands  – hubby is the only person I know the longest outside of my family –  we are friends – he makes me laugh – is easy – loving  – my north- a great dad- a good guy –and a great friend.   We failed and succeeded together.  We had many laughs, along with tears throughout the years; we conquered our fears and braved many storms -we look out for each other – and made it work- together we are strong – first it was “just you & I” now four strong!

Sixth Thankful – thirty reasons to celebrate!

Seventh Thankful – we just had a wonderful dinner at a local restaurant near our home- with our entire family – it was delicious.

Eight Thankful – I am thankful for the last 30 years – I don’t say it often but I am.

Next on the list:

The ninth thankfulis that I have completed the “Self Employee Evaluation” for my job, I am happy with my answers.

Tenth Thankful– I am thankful that my family allows me the quiet time I need when things get hectic, it is so appreciated.

  • I really enjoyed seeing all the photos come up on my FB feed (I wasn't stalking, promise!) – you all looked really happy. 30 years is a real landmark one 🙂

Glad to hear that Amelia's surgery went well, and that she's being supported by her friends. That's awesome.

And good for you for getting your self-evaluation done for work. Those things are no fun.

Hope you have a good week 🙂

  • Well those desserts certainly look delicious!
If the poor girl had to have surgery, I'm glad it went well. Also glad that Motrin is working for her so you can stay away from the big drugs. I'm sure it's a relief to see her friends reaching out and checking on her. You never know how that is going to go.
    CONGRATULATIONS ON 30 YEARS!!

  • Happy anniversary! I'm not sure what your daughter had surgeryfir but if Motrin is all she needs for pain then that is a win! I hope her recovery goes fast.

  • Thank you Lizzi — they are there for my friends to enjoy – that girl is tough and doing as good as she can – oof with the friends – all summer she was looking forward to seeing her friends – and I was worried they wouldn't show her any love the jury still out said the Mama Bear- meh on the self evaluation test – it is what it is let's hope they appreciate my vague answers 😉

  • the desserts were very good said my hubby; but I was too full to eat all but one cannoli- we were so uncomfortable with potentially giving her the big drugs glad she doesn't need it – lets hope the friends come through – thank you 30 years is a long time and yet it flew! 🙂

  • Happy Anniversary, Marisa!! All the very best! You are a lucky lady, and he is a lucky man to have found such everlasting love, respect and compatibility! So glad that Amelia is doing better; she is such a strong, little girl! Wishing you lots of love, health and happiness, my friend!

    xoxo

  • Happy Anniversary! We are coming up on 20 years in May, and I still think it's the best decision I ever made. And The Alchemist…I've heard about it but haven't read it – off to add it to my always growing list!

  • 30 years is such a wonderful thing. Congrats to you all! Those desserts look amazing from that restaurant! So sorry to hear about your daughter's surgery and friends not checking on her. I'm glad she seems to be doing well so far though. 🙂

I want to hear from you ; let's talk.
